After studying Photography at Bournemouth and a brief spell as a fine art picture framer, I started making shoes in 2010 for a small London based shoemaker. It turned out that the combination of visual design and hands on realisation was the perfect balance for me as I immersed myself in footwear and shoemaking. I was able to learn a great deal about footwear in the 3 years I spent with the company, as it grew from producing one-offs in the back of their Notting Hill shop to producing hundreds of pairs a month in a fully equipped high-tech factory, all with an eye to nurturing young shoe making talent. Since leaving in 2013 I have been honing my shoe making skills and taking on custom shoe orders, alongside teaching footwear and in 2014 set up Alexander Reed Custom & Bespoke. I love to take on custom work- the more unique the project, the better. Please get in touch, I would love to hear from you.
